This beautiful rare exotic fruit is cousin to the jackfruit and cempedak, but has a delicious vanilla-like aroma and flavour. Each edible aril is smaller than a jackfruit or cempedak aril, soft and slightly chewy. The outer skin of the fruit has an abrasive blunt spine-like texture, and breaks apart easily once the fruit is ripe.

Marang is native to Borneo - parts of Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei; it can also be found in the Philippines and southern Thailand. Depending on its origins, it has many local names like marang, madang, timadang, terap, tarap, kiran, green pedalai, or johey oak.

In Australia, it can only be found in Far North Queensland by limited non-commercial growers, as it is an ultra-tropical tree sensitive to frost and cold weather.

We are not a nursery. Please do not request for seeds or baby plants.
