Mangosteen Paste Candy or Mangosteen Guan is made the traditional way from Ban Khiri Wong region in Thailand.
This guan has a pleasant lemon tart flavour, with a mild sweetness. Its texture is chewy, but not sticky. There are also mangosteen seeds cooked into the paste for the added nutty crunch.
In collaboration with and sourced by Year of The Durian, this Mangosteen Guan is made by Ban Mai Hom. Lindsay Gasik recommends this mangosteen paste as vegan friendly, and versatile in mains, desserts or as a snack.
Cook it in Pad Thai or a soup in the same way tamarind paste is used.
Or use it as a filling for chocolate, pastry, steamed buns, or even spread on toast.
Ingredients: 95% pure mangosteen, 5% natural sugar.
